Uncommon in Autograph Letters Signed

BYRNES, James F. (1879-1972).  Nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in June 1941.  He resigned this position after serving for only 15 months. Very scarce autograph letter signed, one page on United States Senate letterhead dated Dec. 29, 1940.  To Dear Ed. Byrnes writes: “Your note was appreciated more than the Christmas Card. Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will have our good wishes and sincere affections. Our love to Mrs. Burne. Sincerely yours, James F. Byrnes.” Handwritten letters by James F. Byrnes can be considered quite uncommon. A choice example............ $275.00
