BYRD, Richard E. (1888-1957). American polar explorer and aviator. Typescript from his book regarding his approach to the South Pole. Seventeen lines describing what he did as he approached the Pole, his radio message, dropping the flag and his thoughts. Quite unusual, the first we have seen.
