BUSH, Vannevar (1890-1974). Inventor, scientist. Bush was the first presidential science advisor. He initiated the Manhattan Project. He played a critical role persuading the United States Government to undertake a crash program to create an atomic bomb. Bush was present at the Trinity Nuclear Test on July 16, 1945.
