BROWN, Willard (1915-1996). Professional baseball player nicknamed “Home Run” Brown. He is considered one of the premier home run hitters in the negro Leagues. He played with the Kansas City Monarchs (1936-44) and (1948-50). He played one season (1947) in the major leagues for the St. Louis Browns. He was the first African American to hit a home run in the American league. He was inducted into the baseball hall of Fame (2006). Choice signature on a 3”x5” card.
