Two Scarce British Aviation Pioneers on the Same Leaf
BROWN, A. Whitten (1886-1948). British aviator was the navigator that made the first successful non-stop transatlantic flight in 1919. Much of the overseas flying was done in heavy fog. He was knighted a few days after his return.
SCOTT, Major G. Herbert (1888-1930) English aeronautical expert who was the first to fly a lighter than aircraft across the Atlantic in 1919. The aircraft carried 31 persons including an American observer and a British stowaway. He devised a system of mooring airships at the head of the mast.
