Astronomer Who Discovered 27 Comets
BROOKS, William R. (1844-1921). Astronomer. Founded the Red House Observatory in New York where he discovered 11 comets. He later discovered 16 additional comets making 27 in all. He was an early worker in photography and later used its application to astronomy. Very scarce autograph letter signed on his blind stamped name embossed stationery which depicts a comet sailing through the sky. Smith Observatory, Geneva, N.Y., Jan. 12, 1898. A wonderful letter offering words of wisdom. Also sends thanks for birthday wishes interestingly six months in advance. In fine condition....................... $250.00
