BISGUIER, Arthur (1929-2017) American Chess Grand master (1957). He won 3 U.S. Open Chess Championships 1950, 56 and 1959. He played for the U.S. in five Chess Olympiads. In 2005, U.s. Chess Federation proclaimed him “Dean of American Chess.” He defeated Robert Byrne in his celebrated Game of he Century. He won his first game against Bobby Fischer. Very scarce A.L.S. with excellent content on a 3"x6” card. Bisguier writes: “What is my greatest chess satisfaction? I’m not sure – perhaps my first victory over Reshevsky in the early 50’s. Victories over Larsen, Spassky, Keres, Geller, Najdorf, Keres et al obviously were gratifying but all occurred subsequently. Another early victory that I still think fondly of was a teenage (?) against Mengarini. Cordially Arthur Bisguier.” In very fine condition......................................$85.00
