BERRY, Chuck (1926-2017). American guitarist, singer, songwriter and a pioneer in rock and roll music. Became active in 1955 with his song “Maybelene” which sold over a million copies. In January 1962 he was sentenced to 3 years in prison for offences under the man Act. In 1979, he spent 4 months in jail and did community service for tax evasion. Berry was one of the first to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (1986).
