BENTON, Thomas Hart (1899-1997) American artist, muralist from Missouri. He was at the forefront of Regionalist art. Choice FDC commemorating the 150th Anniversary Missouri Statehood. Cachet of a covered wagon with pioneers fighting with Indians. Affixed to this cover is a U.S. 8 cent Missouri Statehood stamp originally painted by Benton. Cancelled, First Day of Issue, Independence, MO May 8, 1971. Signed with a choice signature “Thomas H. Benton.” Not common in this foremat. V/F condition...........$175.00
