BATISTA y ZALDIVAR, Fulgencio (1901-1973). Cuban military dictator. Became Army Chief of Staff after the overthrow of the mach ado government in 1933. President of Cuba (1940-1944). Installed himself permanently as president from 1952 until January 1959 when he was overthrown by Fidel Castro and his rebels. Photograph, 5”x7.5” depicting a formal half length pose, smiling. Inscribed on the image in English: “Autograph to Mr. Richard Wayne Butler, Sincerely, F. Batista, July 72.” Inscription and signature on the dark portion of his suit therefore offering only good contrast. Otherwise in fine condition. Signed photographs of Fulgencio Batista are rarely encountered...........................$950.00
