BANISADR, A. (1933- ) First President of the Islamic Republic of Iran (1980-1981). After 16 years in exile in Paris, he returned to Iran in 1975. Elected President in January 1980 but lost the support of the Ayatollah Khomeini. In June 1981 he was declared politically incompetent by Parliament and dismissed by Khomeini. Uncommon photograph, appx. 3.25"x5", head & shoulders pose in a with a look in deep thought. Dual signature in both English and Farsi. Rubber stamp on verso "10 Oct. 1981".
