ANTHONY, Susan B. (1820-1906) American social reformer and woman suffrage advocate. She attempted to have the 14thAmendment extended to include women. In 1869, she co-founded the National Woman Suffrage Association (President Elizabeth Cady Stanton), which merged with the American Woman Suffrage Association to create the National American Woman Suffrage.
