ROSENBLOOM, Maxie (1907-1976). American actor and boxer. Known as “Slapsie Maxie” due to his open glove style of boxing. Total fights: 298. Total wins: 222. In 1930 he won the N.Y. Light Heavyweight title. In 1932 he won the Light heavyweight Championship of the World. He retired from boxing in 1939. In 1937 he accepted a role in a Hollywood film. He played an important part in TV’s first 90 minute drama. The film “Requiem for a Heavyweight” written by Rod Serling starring Jack Palance was about Rosenbloom.
Ring Boxing Hall of Fame (1972), World Boxing Hall of Fame (1985), International Boxing hall of Fame (1993). Wonderful, vintage photo, 8”x10”, dressed in a suit and tie holding up his head with his hand. Dated on verso “Jan. 31, 1939”. Inscribed: “To Ann Patrick with best wishes for your success-from Maxie Rosenbloom”. Very light traces from prior mounting on four corners, easily matted out...................$175.00
