PACKARD, Jasper (1832-1899).  Union General. Attorney who listed as a Private in the 48th Indiana Volunteers in 1861. He was promoted rapidly and became Captain in 1862. He was brevetted Brigadier General in March 1865. After the war he served three terms in the House of Representatives and became a newspaper editor.  Signed CDV adding: “Sincerely yours” in his hand. Photograph taken by Robert Gould, Rochester, Indiana.  Signed photographs of Packard can be considered uncommon................... SOLD
