EARHART, Amelia (1897-July 2, 1937?). American aviation pioneer, author. First woman to fly solo across the Atlantic (1932). Superior vintage fountain pen signature which is a remarkable 5 inches long on the verso of a portrait of her (removed from her book) aboard the luxury liner “President Roosevelt”. Overall measurement is 5”x8”. She is standing on the bridge deck with her crew, Captain Wilmer L. Stulz, pilot of the “Friendship” and Louis “Slim” Gordon, mechanic. After their June 1928 flight of the “Friendship” they boarded the “President Roosevelt” in Southampton, England and returned to New York. Miss Earhart was sheltered aboard the ship on the bridge deck to avoid the throngs of admiring onlookers. Matted...........................SOLD
