-
- DARROW, Clarence. (1857-1938). Legendary American Attorney, reformer, defense
council in several sensational trials. His defense of Leoplold-Loeb,
two notorious killers, have been the subject of three movies.
A Book from Darrow's library. My Religion by Leo Tolstoy.
Walter Scott, London (1884). 274 pages.
-
- Boldly signed on the front free endpaper
"C.S. Darrow." Inside the front cover is the
bookplate "Library of
Clarence
S. Darrow". Throughout the book Darrow has drawn lines in
pencil next to many paragraphs. No doubt these were paragraphs
of interest and influenced Darrow's thinking. Coincidentally,
Darrow's preface in his book Resist Not Evil states that
he was inspired by the writings of Tolstoy, of which he made
a careful study.
-
- A fabulous collectible and quite rare
as such. Cover shows some wear and normal aging, otherwise in
good condition for a book that was thoroughly read and referred
to. SOLD
