TREVES, Sir Frederick (1853-1923) British surgeon, expert in anatomy, author of many books and credited with saving the life of King Edward VII. Friend and doctor for Joseph Merrick known as the “Elephant Man.” Scarce, autograph letter signed, one page, Cavendish Square, Nov 1, 1905, Treves writes in ink: “Dear Sir, I regret that I shall be unable to write the article mentioned in your letter of Oct. 30th Yours faithfully, Frederick Treves.” A wonderful full page example in very fine condition.............$475.00
