TRAPP, Baroness Maria von  (1905-1987).  Native of Austria. Matriach of the Trapp Family Singers. Her family’s story was immortalized in the movie musical “The Sound of Music”. In 1959, the play “The Sound of Music” opened on Broadway. It was Julie Andrews most famous role.  In 1965 the movie won 5 Academy Awards including Best Picture.  Color postcard of Maria von Trapp and her daughter Hedwig on the porch of the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont.  Lengthy autograph letter signed, April 17, 1967 to Dear Mrs. Noble. She sends thanks for her kind letter and says in part: “...but the newspapers did me an injustice. I did not tear up 75% of the questions. I just put them in my pocket because one shouldn’t let them lie around. I hope the audience didn’t feel about me like this flippant article writer!  But other than that I enjoyed my only too short stay in Saginaw very much. Yes, I made mass in Detroit and since 2 days the pain in my jaw is gone. Feels fine! I’ll be back home on the 27th or the 28th. I go to the opening of the Expo on the 29th.  Auf Wiedersean! Maria Trapp.”  In excellent condition............................$185.00
