Old Blood and Guts
PATTON, JR., George S. (1885-1945). American General, known as “Old Blood and Guts.” He commanded the victorious 3rd Army in Western Europe during WWII. Killed in an auto accident Dec. 31, 1945. He represented the U.S., sent by the U.S. Army to be a challenger in the modern Pentathlon competition in the Olympics held in Stockholm (1912). Portion of an original envelope franked “Free” in script in Patton’s hand. Hand addressed by Patton to himself in block letters: “G.S. Patton, Jr South Hamilton, Mass.” Postmarked, U.S. Army Postal Service, Oct. 16, 1943.” A fine example, excellent for framing.............$925.00
