LINDBERG, Charles W. (1920-2007). U.S, Marine Corps Corporal. In WWII, during the invasion of Iwo Jima, he was part of the small patrol who raised the first American Flag on Mt. Suribachi, this captured Japanese Territory. Of the 40 man platoon that made the climb, 36 were killed or wounded. Cpl. Lindberg carried the flame thrower up the mountain. Choice print of the soldiers raising the American flag. Measures 8.5”x11”. Hand signed and dated 1945 by Lindberg directly under his printed signature. He draws an arrow pointing to him.
