A Legend in Her Time
HATTI, Hilo (1901-1979). Actress, singer, comedian and hula dancer. She became an icon for her music and dancing. Hatti was a favorite of the military. Of Hawaiian decent, she entered into the movies in the early 1940’s. She appeared in “Song of the Islands” (1942) and in “Blue Hawaii” (1961) with Elvis Presley. In 1969 a new hybrid orchid was named after her. There are seven Hilo Hatti retail stores in the State of Hawaii which is a major tourist destination. Postcard photograph, B&W, head and shoulders pose, smiling. Inscribed: “To Eddie Aloha, Hilo Hatti.” A very scarce autograph especially in signed photographs. V/G condition......$145.00
