55. GACY, John Wayne (1942-1994). Convicted for the rape and murder of 33 boys between 1972 and 1978. Twenty-seven of his victims were buried in a crawl space under the floor of his home. Best known as “The Killer Clown.” His registered clown costumes are “Patches” and “Pogo.” He is also known for his statement of saying he was only guilty of running a cemetery without a license. His execution was without question a media sensation. Scarce letter on his short desirable letterhead “Just A Note From...John Wayne Gacy N00921 along with a printed clown skull. Sept 4th 1990. To Stephen (Koschal). ‘’Enclosed two book which I felt you would like more than anyone else that I write to since your into Baseball. I have signed both books so enjoy them. From time to time I gift people with things that I have received because I can have only so much in my cell. Yes I am a Diehard CUBS fan since 1954. Take care for now.’’ Signed “J.W.” In very fine condition. This letter has many skips in the words/letters of the typewriter. Gacy often complained about this German made typewriter which he hated but had a hard time finding a newer machine. He wrote many of his letters and books on this typewriter.
