FORD, Gerald R. (1913-2006) 38th President of the United States (1974-1977). As Vice-President he acceded to the Presidency upon the resignation of Richard Nixon. This was a first in American history. President Ford pardoned former president Richard M. Nixon. Wonderful A.L.S. to John Swearingen (CEO & Chairman of Standard Oil Co. for 23 years). On the letterhead of Gerald R. Ford along with the gold presidential seal, Dec.13 (n.y.) Ford writes, using a pen with red ink: “Dear Bonnie and John, Betty and I deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness at Christmastime. We thank you for the very delicious Sara Lee chocolate cake. We hope you and the family have a wonderful Holiday Season. Enjoy a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope to see you on the desert after January 4th. We will be in Beaver Creek/Vail from the 16th thru 4th. Best wishes Jerry Ford.” Together with the original envelope with the printed free franking signature of Ford and two photographs, one of Ford with John Swearingen and the other with Bonnie Swearingen. All four items in fine condition.....$1250.00
