“Hanoi Jane”
FONDA, Jane (1937- ) Actress but best remembered for visiting the enemy during the Vietnam War. It is said that she turned over smuggled messages from several U.S. POW’s to their captors. It is also said that she was spat upon by a POW and that POW was clubbed and dragged away. The story continues that when the cameras stopped rolling three POW’s died from the beatings they received. A U.S. Colonel tried to bring Fonda up on charges of treason for giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Photograph, 8”x10”, B&W, vintage full face pose.
