ECKENER, Dr. Hugo (1868-1954) German flight pioneer who built the Graf Zeppelin and the Hindenburg. Commander of the Graf Zepplin for most of its record-setting flights. This includes the first air ship flight around the world. He is the most successful air ship commander in history.
